EAPA Believes that Black Lives Matter (Statement by the Employee Assistance Professionals Association, June 2020)

The Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) stands in solidarity against racism, discrimination, and all mechanisms that deny equal opportunity and allow systemic inequities to persist. EAPA provides advocacy and educational resources to support our members in eliminating racism and discrimination across the globe. We remain committed to supporting our members as they lead, influence, and participate in meaningful and permanent change.

EAPA has a duty to provide guidance to stop global hate crimes and the ideologies that perpetuate them in the workplace and beyond. The senseless killings of George Floyd and too many others remind us that we must unite to stop these violent acts of hatred.

It is our duty to assist the organizations, workers, and communities we serve in creating and sustaining respectful and inclusive work environments. We have a responsibility to be proactive in upholding human rights for all people. EAPA will hold ourselves as an association accountable for our part on this still unfulfilled promise. We pledge to actively oppose racism and all forms of discrimination.
